Sunday, June 14th Follow-up Event: |
CommUnity Building Day at the
Black Oaks Center Eco-Campus
Where: Pembroke Township, IL (www.blackoakscenter.org)
When: We are chartering a biodiesel bus to the Black Oaks Center Eco-Campus. Catch a ride the bio-diesel school bus to Black Oaks land on Sunday. We are going to be meeting at 9am at IIT's parking lot at 3241 Federal Street. (close to the Red and Green line's 35th street stop). If you plan on riding on the bus please RSVP for the bus. Children and students are encouraged to come as well. The bus will be returning around 5pm.
Why: To engage a large group of professionals and community members in several fun building projects. We are currently working on: building a wooden deck for their new yurt, finishing the chicken coop, and putting the final layer of lime plaster and a tile mosaic on the natural construction cob wall. We hope to also begin a site analysis for the future off-grid Welcome House.
We are happy to announce that Chef Tsadakeeyah from Majani 310 will be catering a delicious lunch at Black Oaks land for a suggested donation of $2. In keeping with sustainability ideals, please pack out what you pack in. That means please bring your own eating utensils and plates to cut down on the waste of paper products.
Also, the land is in the middle of the savanna so there are bugs. Please bring bug spray with you. Thanks and we look forward to seeing you! Email me with any questions!
We hope to see you on June 13th and 14th!
Please contact Jamie, Brian, or Dan with any questions and RSVP: (773) 944-0242 jamie@adpsr.com
