Volunteers with ADPSR and the Black Oaks Center have made substantial progress on the winterization project.  On Saturday, December 5, our main goals are to finish the straw bale walls and raise the roof. We have enjoyed beautiful weather every weekend but as winter approaches we are feeling the urgency of completion. However, with the help of our amazing volunteers, we are confident that we will deliver a sustainable structure for the Carter family in time for winter.

If you are interested in volunteering or donating financially or materially, or would simply like more information please feel free to contact Krystl Loiterman at Loiterman@ADPSR.org

ADPSR-Chicago broke ground on Saturday, October 3 for the winterization of the Black Oak’s Center for Sustainable Renewable Living. The development of the design is a product of intense collaboration between ADPSR and the Chicago chapter of Architecture for Humanity (AFH) We are excited to be a part of this critical transition for the founding family of Black Oaks and look forward to working with volunteers from the surrounding communities.

ADPSR-Chicago is pleased to welcome Krystl Loiterman of Harrington College of Design as our Fall intern. Krystl is in school for Interior Design and has a passion for sustainable design. She will be helping us with the design and winterization of the Black Oak's homestead. We have partnered with Architecture for Humanity's Chicago chapter, and she also will be working directly within that partnership as we design and create sustainable and cost effective systems to not only let Black Oak's thrive through the winter, but also be a model for sustainable living in the Pembroke Township.  We are excited to work with her and look forward to seeing her designs.
